How Music Influences People
From falling in love to, discovering life as you grow older, mental health, and what not.
The best part is that not everyone is immersed in writing about just one thing, I don't think I've ever come across a feeling and not finding the right music to describe it and relate to it.
Here's one of the artists that have influenced me in my life.
Before I actually start, I'd like to talk about the group that influenced me most thus I made a separate post for them.
BTS
BTS is a Korean Boy Group that made it's debut in 2013, and has earned quite a lot of fame by now.
The band collaborated with UNICEF in an anti-violence campaign dubbed Love Myself.
They joined forces to sponsor #ENDViolence, a UNICEF campaign based around making the world a safer place so that that children and teenagers will be able to live happy and healthy lives, without living in the fear of violence.
The LOVE MYSELF #ENDViolence campaign corresponds to BTS’ lyrical messages, with a number of the band’s songs addressing societal ills.
Agust D - The Last
Suga embraces vulnerability on his solo mixtape, under the name Agust D, with lyrics like, “Depression, OCD/ They keep coming back again from time to time.” In South Korea, a stigma around mental illness persists, which keeps many people from seeking treatment. So, it’s revelatory to see such a famous Korean figure be so open about his struggles with depression and anxiety, which could help normalise treatment.
N.O.
During BTS’s schoolboy era, -- in particular, this song touched on how the education system turned kids into “studying machines.”
Two! Three! (Hoping For Good Days)
This has to be one of my all time favourite songs. It has a soft beat to it. In it they sympathise with people having a hard time.
'Hold my hand and smile
It’s alright, now count 1, 2, 3 and forget
Erase all sad memories
Hold each others hands and smile"
Spring Day
This is a song that makes me tear up every time I listen to it. There's quite a lot of theories as to what this song is about but the closest is that its about our friend dying and they being sad after they've left saying that morning will again. I specifically love this song because I've been in a similar situation.
4 O'Clock
This song is about two friends being there for each other. " At a dusky park
A nameless bird that singsWhere are you
Oh you
Why are you crying
You and I are the only ones here
Me and You
Oh You"
And that's all for today!
I mean there's more and theist could go on but I'll keep it till here.
Besides these, BTS of course has cheery songs too, and I hope you'll listen to them and enjoy!
Peace Out,
Zoha X
